Birthdays & Milestones

The Birthdays & Milestones web part for Sprocket 365 highlights upcoming birthdays, work anniversaries, and new starters so colleagues can see who to celebrate on your intranet. Each person appears as a card with a days-left (or Day N for new starters) badge, profile photo, name, occasion, and date.

info

Renamed from Whats Up: This web part was previously called Whats Up. In the toolbox it appears as Birthdays & Milestones - Sprocket 365. Existing pages keep working after upgrade; only the name and feature set have changed.

Features

  • Birthdays - Upcoming birthdays from Microsoft Graph or SharePoint User Profile; age is not shown.
  • Work anniversaries - Upcoming anniversaries based on hire date (or a custom profile field), shown as “X Years Anniversary”.
  • New starters — Colleagues within 7 days of their hire date, with a Day 1–Day 7 badge and 'Welcome aboard!' label; new starters are listed first (most recently hired at the top).
  • Celebrate! - When you have a birthday or anniversary today, the web part will play a confetti animation automatically (once per day per browser) and shows a 'Celebrate!' button on your card to replay it.
  • Theming - Days badge uses the site primary color in light themes and secondary in dark section themes; supports light and dark section styling.
  • Custom CSS - Optional Custom Styles and Custom CSS Class on the web part container.

Calendar events removed

Earlier versions of Whats Up could show items from SharePoint calendar lists and included a command bar (“More events” / “Add new event”). That is no longer supported in Birthdays & Milestones.

info

Looking for calendar events? Use the Calendar web part or the Events web part on your page alongside Birthdays & Milestones. Existing pages that had calendar settings saved will still load; those properties are ignored and are not shown in the property pane.
